Main Idea:
By using the gradient of pure white color which fades into transparency, an elegant glass-like effect appears when icon shapes are overlapping each other. An especially juicy result is achieved by using densely saturated colors for the background.
Design System:
For designing the Alpha icons I used a layout with a 96 x 96-pixel grid with pixel-perfect rules. All shapes and lines are filled with a white gradient, from opaque to fully transparent, and the thickness of lines is equal to 1 pixel.
